2026 SUFFOLK COUNTY CO-ED SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION (SCCSA)
RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT 

In consideration of being allowed to participate in any way in Suffolk County Co-Ed Softball Association (SCCSA) softball league games, leagues, events, and activities, the undersigned acknowledges, appreciates, and agrees to the following:

1. I CERTIFY that I am at least 28 years of age and that I am physically fit and able to participate in any games, programs, events or activities, and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical professional. I will not participate in any games, programs, events or activities in which I am not physically able. I certify that I do have my own medical and dental insurance.
2. I ACKNOWLEDGE AND FULLY UNDERSTAND that as a participant, I will be engaging in activities that involve risk of serious injury, including permanent disability and death, property loss and economic losses, and; while particular rules, equipment and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious injury does exist. These risks include, but are not limited to, those caused by: (a) the actions, inactions or negligence of Suffolk County Co-ed Softball Association participants, representatives, volunteers, spectators, managers, event officials, umpires, and organizers; (b) conditions of the premises or equipment used; (c) rules of play; (d) temperature; (e) weather; (f) condition of participants; and (g) vehicular traffic. I FURTHER ACKNOWLEDGE AND FULLY UNDERSTAND that there may also be other risks that are not known or foreseeable at this time and I KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS.
3. I WILLINGLY AGREE TO COMPLY with all and any rules, regulations, terms and conditions for participation in any games, programs, events or activities. If I observe any unusual significant hazard during my presence or participation, I will immediately inform league officials, team managers, umpires or facilities owners of the issue and remove myself immediately and refuse to participate if not corrected.
4. I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, executors, administrators, assigns, personal representatives and next to kin, HEREBY WAIVE, RELEASE, DISCHARGE, HOLD HARMLESS, AGREE NOT TO SUE Suffolk County Co-Ed Softball Association, its managers, members, directors, officers, employees, volunteers, representatives, agents, umpires, and other participants, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners and lessors of equipment and premises used to conduct the games, programs, events or activities (collectively the Releasees), from any and all claims with respect to any and all injury, disability, death, or loss of damage to person or property, any liability and expenses whether or not arising from the negligence of the Releasees which I may have or which may subsequently accrue to me, relating to or resulting from or arising out of my use and/or participation in any games, programs, events or activities of Suffolk County Co-Ed Softball Association.
5. I will not bring any alcohol or illegal drugs to any of the fields being used. I will not be under the influence of any alcohol or illegal drugs while at any SCCSA game, league, event or activity regardless of whether or not I am a participant in the same.
6. I CONSENT to having medical treatment that may be deemed advisable in the event of injury, accident and/or illness during any games, program, event or activity. I RELEASE Suffolk County Co-Ed Softball Association and all persons participating in such medical treatment from all responsibility for any such actions. 
7. I UNDERSTAND that personal injury and liability insurance is not included in the league fee.
8. I DO HEREBY AUTHORIZE AND GIVE MY FULL CONSENT to Suffolk County Co-Ed Softball Association, and their agents and assigns, the right to take, copyright and/or publish “Media” in all forms and in all manners in which I may appear while participating in Suffolk County Co-Ed Softball Association league games, programs, events or activities. I FURTHER AUTHORIZE Suffolk County Co-Ed Softball Association to transfer, use or cause to be used, the “Media” in any exhibitions, public displays, publications, commercials, art and advertising purposes, without limitations or reservations.
9. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY SHALL BE CONSTRUED BROADLY TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMISSIBLE UNDER APPLICABLE LAWS.

I FULLY ACKNOWLEDGE I HAVE READ THIS RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT, FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS & CONDITIONS AND AM SIGNING UP FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY AND FURTHER AGREE THAT NO REPRESENTATIONS, STATEMENTS, OR INDUCEMENTS APART FROM THE FOREGOING WRITTEN AGREEMENT HAVE BEEN MADE.

sportsmanship and conduct guidelines

Sportsmanship and Conduct

Definitions:

“Individual” shall mean manager, player, and/or spectator.
“Official” shall mean umpires, Field Ambassadors, and park/school staff.

Guidelines:

Every Individual and Official of this league is required to abide by the league code of conduct. If any Individual or Official, at any time, feels that they are being threatened, bullied, or otherwise made intentionally uncomfortable as a result of the actions of another Individual or Official, please notify either your Team manager or an SCCSA representative immediately.

Each Individual and Official is expected to -

Demonstrate courtesy, even when others do not.

  1. Behave in a responsible manner, always exercising self-discipline.

  2. Respect the rights and privileges of others.

  3. Respect public property and the property of others.

  4. Cooperate with, and assist, Officials in maintaining safety, order, and discipline.

  5. Respect Officials even when they do agree with the Official’s rulings.

  6. Respect parks/school rules and staff.

  7. Be mindful of their conduct. Ensure that their actions do not reflect adversely on themselves or their team.

No Individual or Official Shall:

  1. Demonstrate dissent by throwing gloves, hats, bats, balls, or by taking any other forceful action.

  2. Refuse to abide by any Official’s decisions.

  3. Discuss with an Official or Individual the decision reached by an Official except for the Team Manager’s right to respectfully discuss the ruling with the Official.

  4. Use unnecessary rough tactics in the play of game.

  5. Use abusive, offensive, or intimidating language or gestures toward any individual or official on or off the playing field, regardless of the individual’s intention in using said language or gesture

  6. Use profane, obscene, or vulgar language or gestures, in any manner, at any time, on or off the playing field.

  7. Be involved in any “trash” talking on or off the playing field intended to be hurtful or offensive to another Individual, Official or team

  8. Lay a hand upon, shove, strike, spit on/at, or make unnecessary physical contact with any Individual or Official that is not normal physical contact expected during the course of a game.

  9. Make direct or implied threats, either verbally or physically toward any Individual, Official, or their property.

  10. Fail to leave a field when directed to do so by an Official.

  11. Damage, destroy, or steal the property of an Individual, Official, the Suffolk County Co-Ed Softball Association League or park/school.

  12. Consume or possess alcoholic beverages or any illegal drug or be under the influence of any alcohol or illegal drug before, during, or after any game, at any field, park, or parking lot areas of a field of play. If you are found or suspected to be intoxicated or under the influence of an illegal drug during a game, you will be asked to leave the premises immediately and subject to subsequent discipline.

  13. Play under another individual’s name, falsify name, or falsify signature on the official roster form.

  14. Be in possession of a weapon on a playing field or in the parking areas of a field of play.

  15. Leave behind excessive trash.

Suffolk County Co-Ed Softball Association has established this Code of Conduct to ensure that all players and teams behave in a safe and sportsmanlike manner. Suffolk County Co-Ed Softball Association is committed to offering a fun and competitive softball league and will not tolerate individuals or teams jeopardizing this commitment. Providing a quality adult co-ed softball program requires the cooperation of all managers, players, officials, and spectators. Suffolk County Co-Ed Coed reserves the right to take any disciplinary action it deems appropriate against players, managers, and spectators not acting in an acceptable manner, including, but not limited to, verbal/written warnings, suspension from games, and future ineligibility for participation in Suffolk County Co-Ed Softball Association league.

By registering on this website or otherwise participating in the many leagues, games and events organized or managed by Suffolk County Co-Ed Association, you are agreeing that you have read and understood this Code of Conduct and have agreed to abide by it.
